Small Town Glory Bound – Sweet Tea For The Soul

John 1:46 NKJV
And Nathanael said to him, ‘Can anything good come out of Nazareth?’ Philip said to him, ‘Come and see.’

Soon after that famous question, Nathanael became a disciple of Jesus Christ. But if he had based the decision to follow the Messiah purely on his bias toward Jesus’s humble hometown, he might have spent a lot more time sitting under fig trees waiting for something to happen in his life. Most of us are impressed with titles, credentials, and backgrounds. We tend to look up to people who have incredible resumes and vitae, seemingly perfect people who are followed by a train of education, experience, and widely publicized good deeds. But how many times have we put someone on a pedestal only to be disappointed?

People are easily impressed by titles, but God is not. Whether you are rich as a king or poor as a church mouse, whether you sit on a throne or a milk stool — it’s not where you come from that matters, it’s where you’re going to spend eternity that counts. Where are you going?
